What is the cost of the whole plan?
Ask for a written total. Then check how the bill changes when an offer ends or your plan changes.
What is included in the price?
Ask for separate prices for the medicine, the visit, any tests, and ongoing care. Ask about membership charges and how to cancel them.
A low headline price needs a plain answer to “what does this cover?”
- Medicine
- Which product and form? How much supply does the quoted price cover?
- Care
- Are follow-up visits included? Is there a recurring fee?
- Tests
- Which tests are needed? Who bills for them?
- Changes
- What happens to charges if the person providing my care advises against medicine?

What does a cash offer really mean?
Self-pay means paying outside insurance.
Strength tells you the amount of active medicine within a set amount of the product. A milligram, written mg, is a small unit for measuring an amount of medicine.
At the September 26, 2026 check, the Ozempic semaglutide injection offer listed $199 each month for the first two monthly prescription purchases.
The offer covered new self-pay patients who live in the US and are aged 18 or older. Only starting strengths of 0.25 mg and of 0.5 mg qualified.
These strength numbers identify the price offer; ask which strength is on your prescription.
At that check, after the first two monthly purchases, the price was $349 per month for the 0.25 mg strength, the 0.5 mg strength, or the 1 mg strength. The 2 mg strength cost $499 per month.
The stated end date for the introductory offer was December 31, 2026.
Those are medicine prices; visits and tests need their own cost check.
Ask for the price of your exact prescription before paying. Ask whether the offer fits your situation and what you would owe afterward.
Is there a lower-cost program?
GLP-1 is a natural signal your body uses that affects blood sugar and hunger. Some medicines act like that signal.
For certain weight-loss medicines, Medicare has a temporary program called the GLP-1 Bridge.
As of September 26, 2026, people who qualify for that program pay $50 for a monthly supply.
The program’s stated start is July 1, 2026; its stated end is December 31, 2027.
It requires a prescription and approval through the program, with limits on who qualifies.
The Bridge excludes people with type 2 diabetes. They must ask their usual Medicare drug plan to cover the prescription instead.
For medicines covered by your Medicare drug plan, there is a yearly limit on your payments. The Bridge program’s $50 payments do not help you reach that limit. Those payments are extra spending outside the limit.
Use the Medicare sources below to check all the program’s rules with the person who writes your prescription.
How do I check insurance coverage?
A formulary is your plan’s list of covered medicines. Prior authorization is your plan’s review of a request before it agrees to pay.
As of September 2026, Medicare may cover a medicine used to treat a condition other than weight loss, such as diabetes. Coverage still follows your plan’s approval rules and the medicines on its covered list.
Ask your insurer about coverage for the exact medicine and for the reason it would be used. Then ask what you would owe.
Keep the answer in writing if you can. Include any care fees the insurance answer does not cover.
